Irwin Mitchell’s personal injury solicitors helped a man after he was involved in a road traffic accident on his bike.
Our client, the cyclist, was travelling down the road when a man opened a car door, without checking traffic, into his path. The cyclist slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting the car and went over his handlebars while trying to stop. He sustained very serious bilateral wrist fractures which required extensive surgery. The cyclist needed significant rehabilitation and care whilst his fractures healed.
The police only conducted a short investigation following the accident and did not prosecute. Furthermore, portions of the police report went missing and were never disclosed. The man in the car disputed liability throughout and claimed the cyclist was at fault.
Our personal injury team were assisted by our in-house collision investigator to help determine the factors at play in the accident. Sofie Toft, a serious injury specialist, looked after the case and secured the cyclist a significant settlement.
Our client said: “In the course of a long campaign, she held our hands so to speak, every step of the way and provided crucial guidance and advice at key decision points.
“On each and every occasion her judgement subsequently proved to be faultless. Her attention to detail and her general demeanour were exemplary. She was a pleasure to work with.”
