Biography
I have over 15 years’ experience in dealing with personal injury claims. I specialise in complex claims which involve fractures, scarring, psychological injuries, mild to moderate brain injuries, dental injuries and injuries arising from incidents such as dog bites and equestrian matters.
What inspired you to get into law?
I first started to study law at A-Level. I was fascinated about how law came about, the rule of law and how the law develops. From that point, I knew I wanted to be a solicitor but I wanted to learn more about how the law helped people.
I didn’t go to university straight from college and instead started work as a paralegal dealing with minor injury claims. Even with minor injuries, I really enjoyed helping people get the treatment they needed and running a case to settlement, making a difference to their lives.
I enrolled with the Open University to complete my Law degree while working full time. Whilst it was a long slog, it was totally worth it to obtain the qualifications I needed as well as earn valuable experience in continuing to work with clients and in litigation.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Seeing how thankful clients are when we secure funding for rehabilitation, equipment, support and their other needs. It really goes to show that our work is not all about the end settlement, it’s about the journey along the way.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell are extremely client focused and this really comes through in the way we go about securing rehabilitation and support for our clients.
We also have a real community sense in bringing different departments working together to get the best outcome for clients, no matter what their needs are.
What do you do away from the office?
To clear my head I enjoy running and interval training. I like to cook, try new food and spend time with my friends and family.
A weekend in the UK would involve a long country walk, followed by a good meal in a country pub with a glass of wine or a local ale. I also love to travel and enjoy researching new places to visit.
