I am a specialist Family and Shariah Law Associate with Irwin Mitchell. I have practiced family law since 2012.
During my career, I have gained specialist experience advising clients on a range of family law matters, including:
- Dissolution of civil partnerships
- Co-habitee disputes
- Child arrangements, including relocation
- Shariah issues relating to family law.
I'm multilingual and can speak several languages including Urdu, Mirpuri/Pothwari, Punjabi and Hindi, which can help overcome any barriers with some clients.
I am known for my empathetic approach to sensitive family matters and I've built a strong reputation for dealing with matters both pragmatically and robustly for my clients.
I regularly feature in the Wales Online’s Young Lawyers to watch list and I have been included in the '35 under 35 top young business and professional women in Wales' list. I have also been announced as a Finalist in the Welsh Women’s Awards 2020.
What inspired you to get into law?
I've always been someone people turn to for advice and guidance, personally as well as professionally. I think outside the box to look at ways to help people resolve their issues.
I also like working with people to secure the best possible outcome for them in what is usually the most difficult time in their life.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Knowing that I've guided someone out of a very difficult situation is the most rewarding aspect of my role.
When people initially come to me, they are quite distressed. I adopt the role of their shield, shielding them from whatever they are faced with, and help them on their journey to their desired outcome. It's very rewarding to see them emerge in a much better place and they're very complimentary of my help.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell combine expertise with the human touch and that is key to being a family lawyer.
What do you do away from the office?
In my spare time, I enjoy running and going for long walks. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family, in particular, venturing out to theme parks and engaging in other adrenaline-pumping activities.
