Biography
I have over 20 years’ experience of representing clients who have suffered life changing injury or loss. I specialize in claims involving brain injury, spinal injury, poly-trauma and serious orthopaedic injuries including those resulting in amputation.
It is my job to guide clients through the claims process, which can be quite overwhelming after a life changing incident. I help my clients to access rehabilitation and financial support at the earliest opportunity and make sure they receive the best possible final settlement amount.
Life may never be the same again for some clients. However, if we get them the maximum compensation award and we properly invest it to last a lifetime, this forges them a new path toward a brighter future.
What inspired you to get into law?
A desire to help people. My first proper job was with Birmingham City Council as a project worker helping parents access opportunities to return to work or education.
I met a local solicitor at an information day held at the local community centre. People were queuing up for help with housing, benefits, employment and personal injury advice. She used the law to improve her client’s circumstances. She inspired me to train to be a solicitor myself.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding part of my job is working with clients and their families to make a difference in their lives. It’s a privilege to be part of their journey as they get their lives back on track, despite going through the most difficult of times.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The people who work here are very personable and professional. We have experts in a wide range of legal services, so we are supported in providing comprehensive support to our clients. Everyone is committed to providing an 'expert hand, human touch.' Overall, there is a great spirit of comradery.
What do you do away from the office?
Family life takes up most of my free time.
I can often be found at local sports clubs watching my son’s enthusiastic participation in cricket, tennis, swimming, and hockey. I enjoy being outdoors walking or going for bike rides.

Even though I cannot change the life changing injury I sustained, I feel it lessens my burden and worries in the future…
…I will always be grateful that I had someone fighting my corner the whole way not leaving no stone unturned. At a time when I felt vulnerable and let down by a lot of other people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” – SW, former client
