Biography
I am a solicitor in the serious injury department at Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office. I work with children and adults who have suffered serious brain, spinal and orthopaedic injuries. My team often pursue very complex and high value cases.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor in 2021, I worked in London as a Litigation Executive and Trainee Solicitor specialising in Medical Negligence. I therefore have experience in dealing with vulnerable clients with highly complex medical needs.
What inspired you to get into law?
A member of my family has Special Educational Needs and I learned quickly that a small piece of information can help achieve a lot. Often the people providing these pieces of information would be at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and I therefore spoke to my careers guidance counsellors at school, who recommended I should go into law.
While studying, during university holidays I worked as a medical receptionist and this introduced me to medical negligence and personal injury law. The combination of medicine and the law peaked my interest and I have never looked back.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
It’s always a privilege to get to know clients when working on their claims, but this also means we see the challenges they face daily as a result of their injuries. It’s therefore an amazing feeling when I am able to settle a client’s claim so that they can begin to rebuild their lives using the tools and support they need to alleviate these difficulties.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
My colleagues at Irwin Mitchell are so friendly and approachable that it makes it easy to absorb their knowledge and experience in order to develop my career and provide client’s the best service possible.
What do you do away from the office?
On evenings and weekends I spend my time playing rugby, as well as coaching and refereeing mini junior rugby. When not playing sports I enjoy catching up with friends and family over food and drinks, and exploring Northumberland.
