I’m a solicitor in the London office. I have over 12 years experience in personal injury litigation and in recent years have acted exclusively for claimants affected by asbestos-related disease.
I visit my clients in their own home and endeavour to build a clear picture of their individual needs and objectives from the outset.
I aim to provide timely considered advice and guidance through the legal process, as I know that many clients have no prior experience of legal claims and find it a daunting prospect.
What inspired you to get into law?
I had always been interested in law from an intellectual perspective and a career in law suited my skill set in terms of academics. But mainly I wanted to establish a fulfilling career providing a service to help people when they need it most, often at the time of life they feel most vulnerable.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
There is nothing so rewarding as developing a relationship with a client and their family and seeing their case through to a successful conclusion.
It is a privilege to be able to support clients during an incredibly difficult period of their lives and to help relieve their fears over financial security with a successful legal claim.
More recently, I helped my client access innovative non-NHS treatment through their successful claim, giving them hope for the future. It’s enormously satisfying when these treatments help my client, but helping my clients access more treatment options is most key for me.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I started my career at Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield as a student and although I have worked at other practices, I always believed this was where I would land. The firm is home to some of the leading lawyers in the country and it’s good to know you are learning from the best. On top of that, the firm is friendly, welcoming and really cares about its staff.
What do you do away from the office?
I love cooking and hosting dinner parties for friends and family. I have a young son who I do a lot of running around after. When I get the chance, I enjoy experiencing the cultural delights that London has to offer including the many theatres and galleries.
“I would like to thank Irwin Mitchell and in particular Laura Morrison (who handled my claim) for the fantastic service I received and the successful outcome of my claim. Her polite and cheerful telephone manner in every telephone communication was greatly appreciated and I could not believe the prompt and speedy response which every step received, which I have never previously experienced in my limited dealings with solicitors. Laura is a credit to Irwin Mitchell and to her profession” - 5* Trustpilot review
