Biography
I'm a Senior Associate in Bristol with over 13 years of experience of resolving complex personal injury cases, with a particular focus upon asbestos-related claims.
I'm passionate about ensuring that my clients receive the best care, legal and financial advice and support and, where appropriate, that cases are progressed swiftly. All clients are visited at home and in all cases I will also assist with state benefit application forms.
I aim to make the claims process as straight forward as possible, and I have concluded many cases within two to four months of being instructed, even concluding a case within 24 days. I've also helped to establish a Fast Track system for mesothelioma cases in the courts in the South West, and have been involved in a number of high profile cases.
Testimonials
"Satpal Singh at Irwin Mitchell provided my late father with a very professional service during his lifetime and to me (as Executor) after my father died. The settlement received will go a long way towards providing future care home costs for my aged mother. Even though the defendant had already accepted liability, Satpal made me realise that cases can still be lost on a technicality so please ensure that you follow your solicitors advice at all times and provide all the requested documentation in good time." - 5* Trustpilot review
Supreme Court Cases
I recently represented two clients at the Supreme Court:
- Mrs Edna McDonald v National Grid Electricity Transmission PLC [2014] I acted for Mrs Mcdonald in her appeal at the Supreme Court. Mrs Mcdonald’s case has both clarified the law and broadened the protection that the law gives to workers. The appeal concerned the interpretation of the Factories Act and Asbestos Industry Regulations and whilst the case was successful (on a majority 3:2 basis), there was considerable disagreement between the judges. The case was initially unsuccessful in June 2013, so the appeal was expedited to the Court of Appeal and thereafter to the Supreme Court, where it was heard in February 2014.
- International Energy Group Limited v Zurich Insurance PLC [2015] I acted for the Asbestos Victim Support Groups Forum in their intervention in this case. Mr Patrick Walsh of Slater & Gordon was also instructed. This case has wide ranging effects on victims of industrial disease and their families. It was important that the voices of victims were heard in the Supreme Court during the court hearings in July 2014 and January 2015. By a narrow majority (4:3) the Supreme Court favoured a solution which will ensure that victims recover full compensation.
